Terry Winters is well-known as a painter, draftsman and prolific printmaker. At the beginning of his career, Winters worked in an abstract visual language that tended toward the organic. Recently his imagery is more about visual and spatial perception, and he has also moved away from his early monochromatic renditions to create more colorful pieces.
His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at museums across the United States and Europe, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA (2017); Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, Ireland (2009); The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, USA (2001); Whitechapel Gallery, London (1999); Victoria and Albert Museum, London (1998), among many others.
