About

Kate Shepherd's paintings have been shown in galleries and museums since 1996. She superimposes a matrix of delicate lines on vibrant fields of color to depict the planar structure of interior or exterior spaces. The paintings are pareddown and bold in composition, but betray an emotional, humanist sensibility.

Shepherd’s work has been the subject of solo presentations both stateside and abroad, including exhibitions at The Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, and Pace Prints in New York, among many others. Her work is held in the permanent collection of institutions such as The Morgan Library and Museum in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Seattle Art Museum, and many more.
