Sven Lukin was born in Riga, Latvia in 1934. He is often known for his minimal geometric compositions and shaped canvasses. Lukin's work generally falls under the stylistic categories of Geometric Abstraction and Abstract Figurative, and has been included in exhibitions at the Guggenheim and the Whitney Museums of American Art, among others. Sven Lukin received the Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship as well as a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He currently lives and works in New York.
