Susan Laufer was born in Tucahoe, New York in 1950. In the late 1960s, she studied at the Art Student's League in New York. Laufer later earned her B.F.A. from Boston University, and her M.F.A. from New York University. She was awarded with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ferkauf Foundation in 1984 and 1985, respectively. Currently, the artist lives and works in New York, and her work is included in public and private collections around the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Screen Actor's Guild in Los Angeles.
