Qi Zhilong was born in 1962 in Inner Mongolia. He studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and currently resides in Beijing as a full-time artist. Like the work of many contemporary Chinese artists, Qi Zhilong's paintings relect emotions from the period of the Cultural Revolution. He paints primarily large portraits of Chinese women, dressed in green soldier's uniforms. His style is simple and realistic, creating complexity through the juxtaposition of the bright colors in the women's faces with the dark, impersonal uniforms.
