My current body of work is titled, 'My Houses.' It is a group of paintings that act for me as a kind of wish fulfillment, and simultaneously a critique of our current culture's tendency to fetishize the physical aspects of the home. The paintings are my self- indictment in the act of coveting the materialistic. In these paintings I attempt to meticulously render images, culled from the currents media, of luxurious and obviously expensive houses. The style they are decorated in seems often to be primarily concerned with conveying to the viewer the wealth of the home owner. The paintings are my own admittance that I am dazzled and drawn into the images, although I know their intention is to create endless desire in the viewer for the objects they contain. --- Julia Jacquette
